Dimensione Banda Record Collection: Fonit-Cetra and Belati Publishing

At the beginning of the Eighties, the Tito Belati Publishing House conceived of a new record collection: an anthology of compositions covering a wide repertoire that, while following great musical traditions, would also harmonize with the new musical tastes of the public and appeal to younger composers’ musical tastes as well.
The agreement was promoted by the celebrated singer-songwriter Marino Marini, son of a band music composer and aficionado of musical bands himself, in collaboration with Fonit-Cetra Record Company. It provided for the publication of the Dimensione Banda Record Collection which included eight LPs and represented an unprecedented work of documentation.

Thanks to the collaboration of some managers of the Minister of Internal Affairs, five LPs were produced with the participation of the National Police Musical Band, conducted by Maestro Pellegrino Bossone and, after his unexpected death, by Maestro Antonio Impatato. The other three LPs were produced by Perugia Grand’Ensemble-Wind Instruments Orchestra, promoted and conducted by Maestro Andrea Franceschelli.
Many famous musicians, coordinated by Maestro Pietro Franceschini, collaborated to the contents of this collection, defining the LPs and selecting the compositions.
