Savoia-Marchetti, an Italian company working in collaboration with the United States, designed the first aircraft ever employed by the New York City Police Department. One of them (top, left) is shown flying over the Statue of Liberty in a 1930’s photograph, while another is displayed in the 2003 parade. The partnership between America and Italy has been commemorated with the presentation of the new Koala helicopter by Agusta Westland. This company provides state of the art helicopters to the New York City Police Department.
